Willa Mamet
Singer, songwriter, community rabble-rouser, loudmouth for good. Host of the monthly livecast How to Be A Hero for Independent Music and writer for her own blog, No Word Wasted, as well as Soundgirls.org. Willa performs sola, with Genesis Fermin as Power Snatch, and with Paul Miller as – you guessed it – Willa Mamet + Paul Miller. Her new record, produced by Julie Wolf, is slated to be born 2020 and may have a longer gestation than expected.
Briget Boyle
Briget Boyle’s musical background ranges from the folk music of the Balkans to the folk music that surrounds her on the West Coast of the United States. Briget sang for eight years with Kitka Eastern European Women’s Vocal Ensemble, simultaneously played percussion and sang lead with Brass Menažeri, and currently sings and plays guitar with the mutli-folk act True Life Trio. You can also hear her and her guitar solo, as in Chapter 1 of I Need Space. A prolific songwriter, vocalist, and guitar player based in Oakland, California, Briget recently released her second solo album, The Next Line. When the guitar isn’t in her hands, she’s the creative director of Waxsimile Productions, which she founded with her father, Tim Boyle, to focus on both profitable and equitable methods of creating musical products. She brings her business acumen, technical skills, and keen community care to the I Need Space team.
Makenzie Burt
For more than two decades Makenzie Burt has done what she does best: research, plan, strategize, create, and systemize in an array of industries. She is the thread that ties together supervising a crew of “clean room” operators, wrangling a team of midwives, booking folk musicians; Makenzie knows how to support people and thrive systems. She is the steady beat that Brings It All Together. Just like when she bumps the bass drum in the Hubbub Club street band.
